On the Camino Francés, a pair of worn walking boots rests in a doorway, transformed into planters. They seem to hold two stories at once: the miles already walked, and the new life that somehow grows out of them.

In typical Camino fashion, the scene is humble, practical, and unexpectedly poetic. What might once have carried someone down the trail has been left behind, not discarded, but repurposed into a small gesture of welcome.

This handmade etching preserves that encounter in rich black-and-white texture, from the creased leather of the boots to the stone threshold and shadowed doorway behind them. 

For this hand-pulled photogravure etching, we press ink into fine art paper from a plate we create from the original image. Print is made with Gamblin Bone Black ink on Hahnemühle Copperplate paper.

These limited edition prints are signed and numbered on the lower front. Image and paper sizes are approximate. Variations within the edition are possible and expected.  Image 12 cm square on 20 cm × 28 cm paper.
